Palerma Moreno
Palerma is a certified nurse from Huanuco, Peru. God put a burden on Palerma’s heart when she saw a great need among the Quechua and the natives of the jungle. She was convicted by the words of Romans 10: 14-15 and she prayed with one of her close friends that God would give them the chance to train for missions. She says, “with no experience and with many errors we began to reach out to people with God’s Word. We knew He would touch their hearts, and would help us”. Soon after, Palerma joined the Runa Simi team and had the opportunity to be trained for missions.
Today, Palerma works in the area of Women’s Ministry and is in charge of the Medical Ministry. As part of the Women’s Ministry, Palerma travels to villages in the mountains and jungle and teaches women about the Bible—what it says about the role of women in the church and in the family. For the Medical Ministry, Palerma helps organize teams that travel to distant villages to provide free medical care, and share the Gospel. Through these two programs, Palerma has helped Runa Simi open many channels through which to share the Gospel. The women who are trained through this outreach have a lasting effect on villages all over Peru.
Palerma also travels yearly on behalf of Runa Simi to teach at the Andean Missiological Training Center. Here she trains leaders theologically to take on the pastoral role at their churches. For many indigenous pastors, this is the only form of seminary available.
